Mom had a great first weekend home. She had lots of visitors on Saturday. Her brother Eldon and her sister Evelyn spent the afternoon with her, along with many of our cousins. We even had one cousin fly in from California just to see her. It was a house full of love, laughter, food, jokes, and the usual family teasing. She was so happy to be home and surrounded by everyone.

She is settling into her new routine and working very hard with physical therapy to regain more independence. If you know Mom, you know she has a bit of a stubborn streak. She has decided she is going to get up and walk. She tries to help around the house even when she’s told not to. And today, she has announced that she plans to bake cookies. Apparently, recovery now includes preheating the oven.

Her spirit continues to inspire all of us.

Tomorrow is our Dad’s birthday, and we expect it to be an emotional day. We will be sharing the details of his celebration of life ceremony tomorrow. We know many of you are praying for us, and we cannot thank you enough.
